Heidi Richter is the Co-Founder of 4D Scan and BellyButton, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to the field of diagnostic imaging. Heidi qualified as a diagnostic radiographer from Tshwane University of Technology in 1997, beginning her career with a focus on general radiography.
After three years, she specialized in 4D imaging, dedicating herself to providing families with detailed and supportive bonding sessions through each scan. Transitioning into the commercial sector, Heidi excelled as a sales representative and application specialist for leading ultrasound technology brands, including Samsung, Medison, and Sonosite.
Her role in these positions solidified her reputation as a leader in ultrasound technology, where she honed her skills and deepened her knowledge over the next five years. Heidi’s professional journey took a new turn when she co-founded 4D Scan with Isabel, driven by a shared vision to expand the horizons of 4D imaging. Known for her exceptional people skills, Heidi is deeply passionate about supporting pregnant women and addressing their needs with empathy and expertise. Her unique ability to blend technical proficiency with compassionate patient care is a highly valued asset in her field.
Committed to ongoing professional development, Heidi regularly undertakes courses to advance her clinical skills. She has established numerous practices, trained sonographers, and collaborated with industry leaders. Heidi is particularly well-versed in fetal echocardiography and holds accreditation from the Fetal Medicine Foundation.
Her recent studies include the management of gestational diabetes, detailed 13-week scans, and cardiac failure in pregnancy.
Heidi’s dedication to clinical advancement and her natural aptitude for problem-solving make her a distinguished figure in the field of diagnostic imaging, continually contributing to both her profession and the families she serves.
Heidi is also instrumental in the professional advancement of the field of sonography by serving
on the boards of governing bodies SASUOG and SORSA. She is currently the president of
SORSA and the ultrasound representative on the SASUOG board
