Isabel Coetzee is a dedicated radiographer and sonographer specializing in women’s health, with a particular focus on pregnancy and fetal scanning. With over two decades of experience, Isabel has made significant contributions to the field through her compassionate care and innovative practices.

Isabel’s journey began after earning her Diploma in Radiography from Tshwane University of Technology in 1995. She worked as a general radiographer in both South Africa and the UK, gaining expertise in general radiography, cath lab, CT scanning, and mammography. In 2002, she obtained a qualification in ultrasound from the Burwin Institute, and by 2007, she was focusing on 4D scans and women’s health.

A turning point in Isabel’s career occurred when she witnessed firsthand the lack of support and empathy provided to pregnant women in a busy hospital practice. One particularly heartbreaking case of a woman experiencing her eighth miscarriage spurred Isabel into action.

Determined to provide better care, she immersed herself in learning about pregnancy and fetal scanning, ultimately establishing a practice where women are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Isabel’s commitment to excellence is reflected in her continuous professional development.

Accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation in 2013, she has completed numerous courses on fetal brain sonology, fetal echocardiography, fetal anatomy and development, and the management of gestational diabetes and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).

She recently developed AI-enhanced software for facial feature scans, further enhancing the bonding experience for parents.

At her practice, Isabel and her team provide comprehensive services to both patients and referring clinicians. They specialize in combined screening at 12 weeks and detailed anatomy scans later in pregnancy. Isabel is dedicated to offering a positive, supportive experience, ensuring that patients receive up-to-date information and the best possible care.

Her practice is also a valuable resource for referring clinicians, who benefit from her extensive experience and collaborative approach. Isabel has trained numerous sonographers over the years and has set up reporting systems in various practices and hospitals, both private and government.

Her professional memberships include SORSA, SASUOG, ISUOG, and SOOMSA.

Isabel’s passion for her work and her unwavering commitment to patient care makes her a respected leader in the field of radiography and sonography.
